Dave Zurbuch, Owner

Zurbuch Construction is a local, family owned business, founded in 2005 by David Zurbuch. It has been bringing customers’ visions to life in the Chapel Hill and Durham areas since then. Focusing on high end remodel and custom build projects, Zurbuch Construction has created beautiful homes and work spaces that reflect high quality and the personality of the customer or business. They work closely with many architects and designers in the area, and view everyone they work with as a partner.

The Zurbuch team is led by the President, Keith Newlin, who has over 25 years of experience in the custom home and renovation business and who has been with Zurbuch since 2021. Keith gets to know each customer through the sales process, and he works to ensure the team is taking care of each customer’s unique needs throughout the build process. Over the years, the Zurbuch team has grown from one small project team that did everything, to a team of 2 Project Managers, 4 Superintendents, and operational and business support. In total, the team has over 100 years of experience in the constructions industry.

The founder, David Zurbuch, passed away in January of 2024, leaving the business to his wife and family of five kids. Amy and Jacob Zurbuch, David’s wife and their oldest son, are involved in the business as board members and advisors, and look forward to growing the business and bringing beauty and function to Chapel Hill and Durham homes and businesses as a legacy to David’s memory.

In addition to Keith, the Zurbuch Construction team includes CFO Jill Goodman, Office Manager Ashley Drury, Project Managers John Rowe and Dan Cefalo, and Superintendents Brady Woods, Ronnie Lindley, and John Redding. Together, they have over 100 years of construction, building and engineering experience. In addition, our team and sub-contractors are among the best in the business.

Bull Durham House

Zurbuch Construction was hired to renovate the screened porch for a house in Durham, locally referred to as “the Bull Durham House.” Located at 911 Mangum Street, it was the home of Annie Savoy, played by Susan Sarandon, in Ron Shelton’s movie “Bull Durham,” also starring Kevin Costner. The homeowners hired Zurbuch to complete the work on what is more commonly known as the James Manning House, a Queen Anne Victorian built in 1880. It is currently listed with the Durham Historic Preservation Commission.

Black Oak Renovation Project

Zurbuch Construction partnered with the Tallman family to complete a multi-phase project renovation to their home. Everything about this project is unique and beautiful.

We approach all our projects—from the smallest to the largest—just the same: Let’s do this work as if we are going to live here.

  • We want your home to work for you.
  • We’ll provide thoughts, ideas, and inspiration.
  • We’ll treat your home even better than we treat our own.
  • We’ll listen and learn from you.
  • We’ll work hard.
  • We’ll clean up every day.
  • We’ll do what we say we will do when we say we’ll do it.
  • We want you to be proud of your home when the work is complete.
